Must possess a current certification as a California Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT); possess valid first aid and adult CPR certifications; knowledge of general lab procedures (within the scope of this job description); possess experience working with a personal computer, using Microsoft Word, Outlook (e-mail usage). Preference: Bachelor's degree. Knowledge in drug screening and testing. Sutter Applicants must have certification (or eligible) as a Veterinary Technician, Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Technologist. Will perform various analytical procedures on samples (blood, fluid, feces, etc.) from birds, mammals and reptiles. Experience in hematology, clinical chemistry, parasitology, urinalysis, and basic knowledge of species differences in blood cells and morphology preferred. In this position, you will apply your background in medical technology to plan, coordinate, and evaluate unrelated donor searches for transplant patients in collaboration with medical staff, nursing personnel, HLA Lab staff and the Marrow Donor Financial Specialist. You will coordinate the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) search for potential donors while maintaining thorough documentation of the search process. Through NMDP or other registries, you will access databases to search for best matches. This may involve utilizing Trans Link or manual methods as well as searching cord blood banks and independent registries.
To qualify, you will possess a Bachelor's degree and at least one year of related experience as a Medical Technologist within a clinical hematopoietic transplant environment. Ideally, you will have MUD search experience as well as Clinical Histocompatibility Technologist (CHT) certification, or Medical Technologist certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).
