SCIENTIST, CLINICAL LAB


The Microbiology Department in our San Jose, CA location presently seeks an entry level Clinical Laboratory Scientist to perform clinical lab testing and/or other scientific examinations.

 

This position's work schedule is Tuesday-Saturday, 12:00 Noon - 8:30 pm and includes the following areas of responsibility:

  • Independently performs consistently moderate and somewhat complex clinical tests

  • Prepares and tests new reagents or controls and evaluates their usefulness based on standard criteria
  • Performs test calibrations and runs Quality Control material at appropriate intervals
  • Determines the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria in testing procedures
  • Determines calculated results utilizing testing data by means of manual or computerized procedures
  • Accurately enters results of testing
  • Evaluates the acceptability of routine analysis prior to releasing patient reports
  • Responsible for performing preventative maintenance and/or calibration of laboratory equipment and properly documenting actions taken based on approved schedule
  • Performs Q/C and calibrations with the appropriate frequency and evaluates results, to decide whether tests should be reported
  • Reports any shifts or trends to a Clinical Laboratory Scientist II or Supervisor

Our qualifications include a Bachelor's of Science degree in medical technology or biological sciences from an accredited college or university with 0-3 years of direct experience in a laboratory setting. Must also possess a current California state Clinical Laboratory Scientist license to perform laboratory testing.

LABORATORY SUPERVISOR
(PM shift)


Working under the direct supervision of the Director of Laboratory Services and the Medical Director(s) of the Laboratory, the Laboratory Supervisor will plan and organize workflow for the p.m. and night shifts; provide technical expertise and general supervision of personnel; maintain regulatory compliance in laboratory section of responsibility; and perform all functions of Lab Testing for respective area.  You will also perform other duties as assigned.

 

This is a full-time PM/Night shift position.  This is a working supervisor position which will require weekend and holiday rotation.

 

Qualifications include:

  • A Bachelor's degree in medical technology or in a chemical, physical, or biological science with clinical education which includes one year of internship or accredited by an agency recognized by the department

  • B.A., B.S., M.A., or M.S. in chemistry, physical, biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution
